| General note | Coastalmonitoringisthemostemployedmethodwhichisbeingused to<br/>understandthemechanismswhichcontrolsbeachevolutions.Amongthe<br/>enormousmethodsofoceanmonitoringlikebeachcampaigns,aerialimagery<br/>monitoring,satelliteremotesensingandotherGIStechniques,oneadvanced<br/>andmoreaccuratemethodofcoastalmonitoringinvolvesvideomonitoring<br/>techniques.Thisisonetechniquewhichsbeingdevelopedoveradecadeand<br/>stillgettingmuchpopularityallovertheworldasitallowsthestudyof<br/>coastalenvironmentinacontinuativeandautomaticway.Sothiscanbeused<br/>formonitoringnearshore processesin bothhightemporaland spatial<br/>samplingfrequency,withlowlogisticandcostefforts.Oncomparingwithall<br/>theothermethods,itismorepreciseandaccurate,asitcanbedeployedover<br/>lowcost,anditprovidesmorerealtimedatawithoutanytimeconsumption.<br/>Climaticandseasonalvariationsoverthenearshoreregioncanbeeasily<br/>obtainedandanalyzed overalarge areaofthecoastlineevenly.Many<br/>parametersofinterestwhichcanbestudiedinrealtimewiththistechnique<br/>,whichincludesevolutionoftheshorelineandsubmergedbars,wavedirection,<br/>stormimpactandseasonalchanges.<br/>Thepurposeofthisstudyincludesextractionofshorelineandanalyzingits<br/>changesovertimebyusingthevideoremotesensingtechniques.Shoreline<br/>whichisthe zoneofcontactbetweenthebodyofwaterandland,whichisan<br/>interfacewhichchangesovertimeduetovariousbiological,physical,chemical<br/>anddynamicalmethods.Extractingtheshorelineandanalyzingitsvariations<br/>over aregulartimeperiodcanbeusedtounderstandtherateofcoastal<br/>erosionsthathappenedduetovariouscauses,bothnaturalandunderhuman<br/>interventions.Theentirestudyisconductedbyusingtimeximageswhichare<br/>obtainedfromvideoimagery.Forprocessing,extractingandanalyzingthereal<br/>timedataMatlabisused.Herethesnapshotsfrom videodataatatime<br/>scheduleof10minutes,inwhichthefrequencyofthevideodataisreducedto<br/>2Hztounderstandthealongshoreandoffshoremorphologicalchanges. |
