General note Protocol set up in the Government means the system of rules governing the<br/>formal occasions, to be hosted by a Government or the accepted way to<br/>behave in a formal situation. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala is the<br/>Minister in charge of Protocol with regard to the State Government. Political<br/>department under the General Administration Department of the state is in<br/>charge of the protocol arrangements relating to the visits of VVIPs, VIPs<br/>and other dignitaries. Other than the above, the following functions are also<br/>handled by the department.<br/>1. Swearing-in and farewell ceremonies for Governor .<br/>2. Swearing-in ceremony of Council of Ministers.<br/>3. Independence Day celebrations.<br/>4. Republic Day celebrations .<br/>5. State funerals.<br/>6. State Lunch/ Dinner hosted by the Chief Minister and other Ministers<br/>However, arrangements for visits form the routine function of the department.<br/>Through this project, we attempt to conduct a detailed study for the scope<br/>of automation/ computerization of major share of the processes handled by<br/>the protocol division when it undertakes a visit of a VIP to the state . The<br/>DPR will mainly include the proposal for re-engineering the present process<br/>which is more of manual in nature and thereby developing a user-friendly<br/>web system for handling the above task.
