The project aims to use machine learning approach to classify a startup into
either product or service or solutions category based on its sectors of operation
(e.g. AI, IoT, Cyber Security etc). Due to the massive number of existing
startups, and new startups emerging everyday, an automated approach must be
taken to categorise them quickly and efficiently. The sectors of operation are
basically the fields in which a startup operates, hence what they provide as a
company can be easily derived from these sectors. Hence the combination of the
sectors of a company will define its category, and the aim of the project is to
develop a machine learning algorithm that will utilise this principle to find the
category of a company given its sectors. The future purpose this algorithm
would be deployment as a service and integration into other systems or
programs, and also to make other classifications based on similar data.
