By: Material type: TextTextDescription: PGDEGSubject(s): Dissertation note: Post Graduate Diploma in e- Governance 2014-2015 EXT "Kerala State Information Technology Mission Thiruvananthapuram" Summary: “It is a Technique for determining the steps to be taken in moving from current state to desired future state” Role of e-governance as an instrument of speeding up reforms is now an acknowledged fact. Challenge before us is to use the four pillars of e-governance people, processes, technology and resources- for India's growth. The new potential offered by the Information and Communication Technologies and widespread use of the internet is encouraging governments around the world to introduce ICT tools to transform bureaucracy, reduce cost, and improve governance, increase effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, accountability, reach and to fast-track economic and social progress. It has been suggested in public administration literature that the introduction of e-Governance and ICT led automation of government departments may lead to organizational changes in the way public services are delivered. ICT are not always able to meet the requirements due to the current infrastructure. This leads to a Gap Analysis report which highlights the gaps. The senior management can then decide how to mitigate the risk. This may either be a strategic decision to upgrade the infrastructure (at some cost) or the Units may have to provide manual workarounds to meet the actual recovery time. This hardware assessment study baselines the current IT environment, identifies gaps in capability, and existing resources required to fill them. The study also serves to establish baseline measures from which to measure progress toward future IT goals and plans. This analysis can compare what is required by certain regulations to what is currently being done to abide by them. This report titled “Hardware Infrastructure Assessment of e-Office” is a study on hardware infrastructure gap analysis of e-Office in three collectorates ; Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Ernakulam. Hardware Infrastructure Assessment of e-Office project was assessed by examining present status (as is ) and future requirement ( to be) for the implementation of e-Office.
